AS3 Performance Weekly Round Up #26

AS3 Performance Supported Junior MX Rider Ollie Hain - First Ever Season Of Racing

This was Ollie's first ever season racing Motocross and we supported him with parts for his GasGas MC 50 and KTM 50 SX bikes. In 2023, Ollie competed in an Arenacross event, the Grampian Motocross Club Championship, the Aberdeen and District Motocross Club Championship, as well as the Scottish MX Championship. Below, we have reviewed Ollie's 2023 season:

2023 Arenacross, Aberdeen

Ollie's first ever race was in January, competing as a wildcard on an Arenacross track and on a Husqvarna electric bike for the very first time! He was only just over 6 years old and had started riding mx just 12 months earlier. Being the youngest and least experienced rider there, he was really thrown in the deep end, but despite the huge crowd and completely new track and bike, he was not over-awed by the occasion and really enjoyed the experience.

2023 Grampian Motocross Club Championship

This MX Championship consisted of 6 rounds and from the first to the last round, Ollie managed to reduce his lap times by over 20 seconds! Half of the rounds were very wet which actually helped to give him confidence for the other races throughout the year. Ollie managed to grab some hole shots in this Championship, grab some P3's in some races and attained a weekend's best finish of 4th overall. He managed to get 4th in the Championship, which was a "way better result than expected".

2023 Aberdeen & District Motocross Club Championship

This MX Championship consisted of 7 rounds and again, from the first to the last rounds, Ollie managed to reduce his lap times by over 20 seconds! This was a tougher Championship for Ollie - tracks mostly hard pack which the other riders had more experience of. There were also a lot of jumps and tabletops which Ollie wasn't used to. However, this didn't stop Ollie pushing on and learning round by round and taught him to "trust myself with speed". It took Ollie until the fifth round to get his best weekend result of 5th overall and in the sixth round he managed a P3 in one of the races with his first hole shot! Ollie took 5th overall for the Championship.

2023 Scottish Motocross Championship

This National MX Championship consisted of 6 rounds and was spread from March to October. This was the toughest Championship for Ollie as there were more riders on the gates and the tracks were different at each round, something that was all new to Ollie. Over the course of this Championship, there were ups and downs with issues from the bike to the weather. However, Ollie plugged away and grew in confidence with experience as the year went on. In round 4, Ollie went P7 for his best overall result of the Championship, even though the track was the "worst he had ever ridden due to rain". Everything over the season had clicked and Ollie produced his best riding at Clayshant for the last round. On a sandy track, he attained a race-high P6 and equalled his best weekend result of P7 overall to take P7 for the Championship! This "exceeded all expectations for a first ever season of racing". Well done to Ollie on a great first season of racing!

Ollie's comments on his first season racing Motocross

"I’m very proud to have completed my first race season, and exceed expectations. There was some ups and downs and lots of learning points for us as a family! Being so new to the whole sport we’ve come out the other end loving it! With the help and support from you guys, it definitely made it easier! Also, recapping over each round by giving you race reports helps us look back and see the progress I’ve made".

Ollie's thoughts on AS3 Performance Parts & Support

"The foot pegs and brake lines are certainly made of strong stuff and are still looking great! The brake reservoir covers and radiator hoses add a brilliant splash of colour! Thank you again for all the help and advice we have received this last year and for putting us out there on your round ups and across your socials. We are all Looking forward to next year"!

All of us at AS3 Performance congratulate Ollie on a stellar first season and look forward to supporting him in 2024 for his second season!
