KTM EXC 125 Supermoto - One For The Girls (And The Boys!)

Black Plastics, Pink Graphics & Some Stand-Out AS3 Performance Parts

Swiss Supermoto rider - Mara Trinkler - took her 2015 KTM 125 EXC 2 stroke enduro bike and converted it to a black and pink beauty. Compared to the original bike, which was orange and white, the look of Mara's Supermotard is something else! Below, we highlight the AS3 Performance parts used in the bike build with pictures and descriptions. We also have a bit of info about the original bike and links to some more parts we stock for it.

Clutch Cover

The OEM clutch cover on the KTM 125 EXC has been upgraded to our black-anodised, billet aluminium Factory Series version. CNC-machined from a solid block of billet aluminium, ours covers offer increased strength over original clutch covers, while giving the engine a refined, premium look. The black finish complements the bike’s black frame, plastics, graphics and wheels for a cohesive aesthetic. For a detailed breakdown of the features and advantages of an AS3 Performance billet aluminium clutch cover, check out our AS3 Performance clutch cover vs OEM clutch cover comparison feature.

Foot Pegs

The original foot pegs have been replaced with our supermoto foot pegs. They are supplied with replaceable black plastic sliders and are one of the most popular additions to our product lineup since their introduction a few years ago. The anodised black finish complements the bike’s black and pink colour scheme perfectly. In the picture below, you can see how important the plastic slider is in protecting the bottom of the foot peg. These foot pegs are also available for a wide range of models, including TM, Gas Gas, Honda and Husqvarna. We currently offer seven different types of foot pegs for supermoto, motocross, enduro, trail and adventure bikes, each designed with unique features and materials. You can find them all in the Levers and Foot Pegs section of our website.

Fuel Cap

By replacing the OEM plastic fuel cap with our black billet aluminium version, Mara added another major visual upgrade to the build. Our fuel caps are also lighter and stronger than the OEM versions, reducing the risk of leaks or splitting. In addition, the included breather pipe and vent offer far better practicality compared to the long rubber tubes, typically supplied with OEM plastic fuel caps - ours are a neater and better looking alternative, as well as allowing the fuel cap to be unscrewed easily and quickly. The aluminium vent has a one-way valve which prevents dust from entering the fuel system.

We offer three handlebar clamp options for the KTM 125 EXC anodised in black or orange. The standard-height clamps are a direct replacement for the OEM units, providing a like-for-like fit - these are what Mara has fitted to her bike and as you can see in the picture below, the black anodised finish looks great against the black handlebar and triple clamps. For riders looking to change their riding position, we also offer a 10 mm lower version and a +10 mm higher version for raising the handlebars and these will fit many KTM enduro and motocross models.

Side Stand

AS3 Performance side stands are cold-forged from 6061 aluminium to deliver maximum strength without adding unnecessary weight. The forging process results in a slightly softer material than cast OEM side stands, making them less prone to damage from impacts. We have a choice of black or silver and our black version fitted looks very sleek on the EXC 125 Supermoto. All side stands feature an injection-moulded plastic base for added durability.

What Parts Do You Need To Turn An Enduro Bike Into A Supermoto Bike?

Enduro and supermoto setups differ in 3 main areas. 1. Wheels - Enduro bikes typically run a 21-inch front wheel and an 18 or 19-inch rear wheel fitted with knobbly tyres, while supermoto bikes typically run 17-inch front and rear wheels with slick tyres, designed for higher speeds and mixed terrain. 2. Brakes - Braking systems also vary, with enduro bikes usually equipped with a 240 mm front brake disc, whereas supermoto bikes require larger discs of around 300 mm to manage the increased braking forces at higher speeds. 3. Gears - In terms of gearing, enduro bikes use shorter ratios, while supermoto setups generally feature a larger front sprocket and smaller rear sprocket to achieve taller gearing and improved performance on tarmac.

What Are The Original KTM EXC 125 Enduro Bike Specs?

The KTM 125 EXC was produced from 2010 - 2016 and is a lightweight, competition-focused enduro motorcycle powered by a 124.8 cc single-cylinder, 2-stroke, liquid-cooled engine with a 54 × 54.5 mm bore and stroke, fed by a Keihin PWK 36 mm carburetor and started via kickstart. It uses a digital CDI ignition, a 6-speed transmission, a hydraulically operated Magura wet multi-plate clutch, and chain final drive. In restricted street-legal form it produces about 11 kW (15 hp), while unrestricted versions reach the high 20s to low 30s horsepower range, achieving around 105–120 km/h depending on gearing. The bike features a chrome-molybdenum steel central-tube frame, WP 48 mm USD open-cartridge forks with roughly 300 mm of travel, and a WP PDS rear shock with about 335 mm of travel. It rides on a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel, paired with 260 mm front and 220 mm rear disc brakes. Key dimensions include a ~960 mm seat height, 380–390 mm ground clearance, a ~1470 mm wheelbase, a very light 92–95 kg dry weight, and a 9.0–9.5 liter fuel tank. The KTM 125 EXC is praised for its extremely light handling, strong high-revving 2-stroke performance, capable WP suspension, and suitability for technical enduro riding; in restricted form it is also eligible for the A1 licence in Europe.
