Cornelius Tøndel's JWR Honda CRF 450 R MXGP Race Bike
AS3 Performance Parts Used On Cornelius's 2025 MXGP Race Bike
Norwegian pro motocross rider - Cornelius Tøndel - signed with our supported Swedish mx team - JWR Honda - for his third time in 2025. Tøndel competed on the CRF 450 R in the 2025 MXGP World Championship, as well as in 3 rounds of the 2025 AMA Pro Motocross Championship. This was the second season in a row that we were supporting the JWR Honda team with parts, which included silicone radiator hoses, front brake & clutch levers, holeshot device, as well as protection parts like our front sprocket guard, rear brake caliper guard and chain guide. Below, we take a closer look at Tøndel's Honda race bike and some of the AS3 Performance parts used throughout the season.
Chain Guide
Our chain guide is probably JWR Honda's favourite part to run on their bikes. It is a very important part that provides maximum protection to the rear sprocket and keeps the chain running in a straight line - vital for racing motocross whatever the level! These particular chain guides feature a CNC-machined aluminium mounting bracket that securely attaches to the swing arm, while the lower section is made from durable, impact-resistant plastic. This design allows the plastic to flex rather than bend on impact. We offer a red version, as can be seen in the picture below, plus a black version and the team ran both colours throughout the season.

Front Sprocket Guard
JWR Honda used our front sprocket guards throughout the 2025 MXGP season, like they did throughout the 2024 season, relying on them for superior protection of the front sprocket and chain when racing on all types of motocross tracks. Our guards provide significantly greater durability and coverage than the standard OEM plastic versions. While we offer them in red for Honda CRF models, JWR opted to run our sleek black version on all race bikes.

Rear Brake Caliper Guard
Another key protection component chosen by JWR Honda throughout the season was our rear brake caliper guard. Like with the sprocket guard, we also offer a red anodised version, but the team opted for the black anodised finish for the MXGP season. Unlike the OEM plastic guards, our version is CNC-machined from billet aluminium, providing far greater strength and significantly improved protection.

Silicone Radiator Hoses
The team have ran our silicone radiator hoses in all 3 color options we offer - black, red and blue - on their CRF 450's over the past two seasons. Below, we have pictured the black version running behind the Akrapovič exhaust. AS3 Performance radiator hoses are manufactured from premium-grade silicone and reinforced with polyester for exceptional strength and durability. Every AS3 Performance hose kit features a 3-ply construction with a 4.5mm wall thickness, delivering outstanding longevity and performance. Each hose is pressure-tested to endure up to five times the normal working pressure, ensuring unmatched reliability even under extreme conditions!

Engine Plug
All JWR Honda race bikes are equipped with Suter clutches, complemented by matching Suter clutch covers. For their MXGP race bikes, the team upgraded the standard OEM engine plug to our black anodised version, enhancing the look of the engine’s right side. The contrast between our dark plug and the lighter Suter clutch cover really stands out, as shown in the picture below. For those who really want their engine plugs to make a statement, we also offer them anodised in red, as well as blue. Each plug is CNC-machined for a precise fit, ensuring it remains secure and reliable even under extreme heat and pressure.

Holeshot Device
Our holeshot devices have been fitted to all JWR Honda CRF 450 R models since last season. The holeshot device pictured below is anodised in red, matching the bike’s factory plastics nicely. A holeshot device is a launch control system - it compresses the front forks to deliver maximum acceleration off the start line. As soon as the rider applies the front brake at the first corner, the device releases automatically, allowing the forks to return to their normal operation for the remainder of the race. These days, no professional rider lines up without a holeshot device - it's an essential piece of equipment on every bike in the paddock.

Front Brake & Clutch Levers
Another favourite with JWR's riders the past two season's have been our black anodised, forged front brake and clutch levers - in 2024 Alvin Östlund preferred their feel over the OEM versions and it was the same case with Cornelius Tøndel this season. Beyond performance, our levers also offer a sleeker appearance and superior strength compared to standard aluminium levers. Thanks to the cold-forging process, they are designed to bend under heavy impact rather than snap - providing both durability and reliability in demanding mx race conditions.

Front Brake & Clutch Master Cylinder Covers
Both our black and red options of front brake and clutch reservoir covers have been fitted to the JWR Honda race bikes throughout the season. We have pictured the red anodised versions below, which deliver a premium aesthetic upgrade over the standard OEM parts. Designed for exceptional durability, all of our front brake and clutch reservoir master cylinder covers are precision CNC-machined from billet aluminium, for a perfect fit on the master cylinder. In the picture of our front brake reservoir cover below, it looks like it doesn't fit the master cylinder - that is just the edge of the carbon protection added around the master cylinder you can see.

Cornelius Tøndel's 2025 Season Highlights
MXGP World Championship
Entering the 2025 season, Cornelius Tøndel showed strong potential after finishing 15th overall in the 2024 MXGP World Championship and was eager to build on that momentum. The opening rounds saw Tøndel and the JWR Honda team adapting to the demands of the MXGP class on the Honda CRF 450 R, targeting consistent performances and regular top-ten finishes. Unfortunately, his season was cut short midway through the year when he suffered a broken right ankle and lower leg during a qualifying heat in Loket, Czech Republic. After undergoing surgery, Tøndel was ruled out for the remainder of the season. As a result, his campaign was left incomplete, making it difficult for him to secure a solid end-of-year ranking or string together the strong results he had been working toward, finishing with a total of 20 points. Looking towards 2026, with both the rider and JWR Honda committed to a long-term project, the foundation for a strong comeback is already in place - the team structure, the bike, and the overall environment all provide a solid platform for renewed success next year.

AMA Pro Motocross Championship
Before the 2025 season, JWR Honda announced that they would race three rounds over in America - Southwick, RedBud and Spring Creek - as they did with Alvin Östlund in 2024. Luckily, this came before Tøndel's leg break, so he was able to show what he was capable of on US soil. He rode an American HRC Honda supported CRF 450 R for the AMA events. At the Southwick National on 28th June, he finished 17th overall, followed by a P26 result at RedBud on 5th July. On his final outing at Spring Creek National on 12th July, he secured 21st overall. These races provided valuable experience and exposure on American soil, complementing his early 2025 MXGP campaign.
