AS3 Performance Weekly Round Up #30

AS3 Performance Bike Of The Week

1999 Yamaha YZ 125 Bike Build With With A Host Of Upgrades

This week, we start our Weekly Round Up with Derick Griecken's 1999 YZ 125 Bike Build. Derick is a serial Bike Builder from Canada, with a huge TikTok following @thetwosmoker. He has upgraded pretty much everything he could on the bike and has installed a range of AS3 Performance parts to improve the performance and look of the 125. Below we have detailed the AS3 upgrades:

Derick has fitted our Racing Series Foot Pegs, anodised in black. This range of foot pegs are used by a lot of our MX riders, as they are lighter, wider and grippier than the OEM foot pegs and are a good cheaper alternative to our range of titanium foot pegs. Featuring 34 teeth and a 57mm wide platform, they come in a variety of different colours for all brands of bike.

Derick has replaced the OEM gear lever with our black anodised, cold forged Factory Series Gear Lever. In doing so, it is less susceptible to snapping upon any impact, as the cold forging process makes them much less brittle compared to the cast OEM levers. Tip colour us purely the rider's / Bike Builder's choice and here, Derick has chosen grey to go nicely with the grey decals and seat cover.

Sticking with the left-hand side and rear of the YZ 125, Derrick has fitted our aluminium Chain Guide. Available for the 125 in blue, red or black, he has chosen to go with the black option for this build and it is obvious why. As well as the big visual upgrade compared to the OEM chain guide, our chain guide also provides more protection to the Rear Sprocket and keeps the chain running in line.

Moving over to the right-hand side of the bike, Derick has replaced the OEM kick start lever with our black anodised, aircraft grade, aluminium Kick Start Lever. With a hardened steel spline, it is strong and hard-wearing, as well as providing a massive visual upgrade compared to the OEM lever.

Coming as a combo with the Gear Lever, Derick has replaced the OEM rear brake pedal with our Factory Series Rear Brake Pedal, sporting a grey, flexible tip. Designed to feel and look like the OEM levers, ours have a matt black finish, which compliments the black aspects of this Bike Build nicely.

AS3 Supported Rider Updates

2024 British Extreme Enduro Championship

Our supported Pro Enduro rider; Jonny Walker, competed in the Valleys Xtreme event in Wales at the weekend on his Beta 300 RR. This event marked Round 2 of the British Extreme Enduro Championship. KTM's German Pro rider; Manuel Lettenbichler, also made the trip over for the event and being the class act that he is, went on to claim the Win by 10 minutes. P2 and P3 saw a close battle between British riders; Mitch Brightmore & Walker, with KTM's Brightmore narrowly claiming P2 from our supported Beta man. Congrats to Jonny and the other Pros who made the podium.

Also, a big Well Done to one of our Amateur supported Enduro riders; Harry Conner. After suffering from severe arm pump all race, he managed 56th overall on his GasGas EC 300 in the main race - a very respectable result, congrats Harry.
