AS3 Performance Weekly Round Up #21

Standout 2024 Bikes On Display At EICMA Motorcycle Show

Last week AS3 Performance were in Milan for EICMA - the biggest motorcycle show in the world! Below, we showcase in pictures some of the standout bikes in store for 2024, with additional links to video walk-rounds of some of the bikes that were on display.

2024 KTM 250 SX-F with custom blue graphics & plastics

KTM 250 SX-F EICMA

This custom blue 250 SX-F Motocross bike had a lot of attention at EICMA, with the pre-dominantly blue livery breaking the "KTM orange" norm. It has really blown up on our socials with divided opinion and you can find a video walk-round of it here. KTM state the 2024 250 SX-F has over 47 hp, more stability in a straight line than previous models and is ready to dominate the 250cc class! Let's see if this will be the case.

2024 Fantic XE 300 Enduro Bike

Fantic XE 300 EICMA

The long-anticipated Fantic XE 300, fuel-injected two stroke was the standout Enduro bike for us at EICMA. As well as being fuel-injected, the XE 300 2T Minarelli motor is Euro5 compliant and has an electric start. Photographers & videographers were swarming round it at the show - we have our own video walk-round of the XE 300 here. We look forward to seeing this Fantic competing against KTM, Husqvarna, GasGas and Beta 300 two strokes next season!

2024 Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono

Ducati 698

Ducati have released their first single-cylinder, road-going Supermotard (Supermoto) bike for 2024. Click here to check out our walk-round video of it! Ducati's aim with this bike is to: "Transmit excitement, dominating the scene. Simple, lightweight and agile, it is a true fun-bike with racing DNA". Will the Supermoto Armies start buying into the Ducati brand? Time will tell.

Trey Canard's Honda CR Electric Proto MX Bike

Honda CR Electric Proto

As electric dirt bikes are beginning to evolve more and more, there were a plethora of brands showing theirs off this year at EICMA. The Honda CR Electric Proto that Trey Canard competed on recently; against 450cc machines over in Japan, was displayed on the Honda stand. Click here to see the walk-round video. In our opinion, it is the best example of a good-looking motocross bike that has not got an engine - it actually looks like a 250cc! This may be down to the fact that Honda have actually used their CRF 250 R as a basis - the CR Electric Proto houses an electric motor, power controller and battery pack between the frame rails, instead of a petrol-powered 249cc DOHC single. Going forward, Honda wants to create a rechargeable bike with performance equivalent to the CRF 250 R! Now that surely would be interesting, even for the out and out petrol heads.

Kawasaki's 50th Anniversary MX Bikes

KX450 50th anniversary

Kawasaki had this KX450 50th Anniversary Edition motocross bike on display, alongside a KX250. Click here for the walk-round video of the KX450.

Yamaha's 50th Anniversary MX Bikes

YZ450F 50th anniversary

Yamaha were also celebrating 50 years of the YZ this year. Rate the old skool colours? We have walk-round videos of the YZ250 and YZ250F 50th Anniversary Editions on our social media channels - make sure to check them out!

Mario Roman's Sherco 300 SE Factory

Sherco 300 SE Factory

Sherco had Mario Roman's 2023 300 SE Factory on display, with the Spaniard present for photographs and signatures with his fans. The Hard Enduro star finished 4th in this year's FIM Hard Enduro World Championship. We have a video walk-round of the 2024 300 SE Factory bike here!

Ken Roczen's Suzuki RMZ 450

Ken Roczen Suzuki RMZ 450

We were shocked that Suzuki didn't have any 2024 motocross bikes on show this year - the only out and out offroad bike displayed was Ken Roczen's 2023 RMZ 450 race bike, pictured above. Roczen competed on it for Team Germany in this year's Motocross of Nations and although his team didn't make the podium, the likeable German won the MXGP overall. Famously, Roczen's RMZ 450 has a kick start only - no electric start! We have a video walk-round of his race bike here.

We have lots more additional video footage and walk-rounds of the many different brands and motorcycles that were on display at EICMA, on our social media channels. Click the links to view the videos on TikTok, YouTube, Instagram & Facebook.

AS3 Supported Rider News

Our supported Pro Enduro rider; Jonny Walker, came 2nd overall in the 2023 AMA EnduroCross Championship at the weekend. Going into the final round in Reno, Nevada, Beta's Walker was leading the Championship by 7 points. However, things didn't go to plan, finishing 5th overall on the night. With KTM's Trystan Hart winning the overall, the Canadian leap-frogged Walker to take his first ever AMA EnduroCross Championship. Husqvarna's Colton Haaker grabbed 3rd in the Championship.

Jonny was gracious in coming 2nd, saying: "I came in with a 7 point lead.. I knew I had to finish 3rd to win the Championship.. The first race was good, I finished 3rd.. In the second race, just had a bit of a nightmare.. A few things went wrong and I ended up 7th.. That's what kind of threw it away.. I got a good start and I was like, oh sweet, we're on for it now.. I knew I just had to beat Copper Abbott and Cody (both Sherco) and I was in front of them.. Then I went into the pipes and over the handlebars, which was the worst thing I could have done.. I was like oh no.. We've done what we could, it's difficult to come over here.. Obviously I am not happy with 2nd, you don't want to be 2nd, but it's racing.. I did exactly the same to Trystan last year.. I came in, points down, managed to beat him on the night and take the Championship., so it's the same again".

All of us at AS3 Performance congratulate Jonny on a great 2023 AMA EnduroCross Championship. A pity he came 2nd, but nonetheless a great result! We look forward to supporting him in his next event - the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship.
