An MX Bike Build Based On Travis Pastrana's Iconic RM 250 Two Stroke
Travis Fuller has been at it again with another eye-catcher of a Suzuki RM 250 two stroke bike! His latest build is a spin on the SoBe-Sunstar Factory Racing Team RM 250 that Travis Pastrana raced in 2003 - the white and blue with black details being completely different to the standard yellow of the Suzuki motocross range at the time. Like with Fuller's 2000 RM 250, he completely stripped down and rebuilt this 2003 Pastrana themed 250cc 2T, using a few AS3 Performance parts in the process. Below, we showcase the bike with pictures and details of the AS3 Performance parts used in the mx build.
Rear Brake Pedal & Gear Lever
Our rear brake pedal & gear lever combo have replaced the OEM pedal and lever. AS3 Performance rear brake pedals and gear levers are cold-forged aluminium components, designed for increased strength with minimal weight. The forging process makes them slightly more flexible than cast or CNC-machined levers, reducing the risk of snapping on impact. Each lever features a CNC-machined, spring-loaded tip - complete with knurled grooves on the gear lever and nine replaceable stainless-steel teeth on the brake pedal - for enhanced grip and durability. Finished with black anodising, coloured tips, AS3 branding, and a brake-snake cable for added protection, these levers fit the 2003–2008 Suzuki RM 250 models and come with a 12-month warranty. Travis actually purchased our rear brake pedal and gear lever combo with anodised yellow tips, but used our black anodised replacement tips that are sold separately, in order to maintain the white, blue and black theme of the build.
Rear Brake Clevis
The OEM rear brake clevis has been replaced with our blue anodised version, which really catches the eye and goes great with the other blue accents on the bike like the rims, seat cover and blue on the decals. AS3 Performance rear brake clevises are CNC-machined from lightweight billet aluminium and paired with a stainless steel pin and clip for corrosion resistance. They offer a significant visual upgrade over OEM clevises. Compatible with the 1998-2001 Suzuki RM 80, 2002-2022 RM 85, 2001-2008 RM 125 and 2001-2008 RM 250, they provide a sleek appearance - especially when installed alongside an AS3 forged rear brake pedal like with this build.
Rear Brake Master Cylinder Cover
Finishing the rear brake area off nicely is our blue anodised rear brake master cylinder cover, which has replaced the standard plastic version. Like the rear brake clevis, this really pops out with all the other blue parts of the bike. CNC machined from billet aluminium for a precise fit, our reservoir covers offer greater strength than the plastic OEM versions and feature a smooth anodised finish to resist corrosion. Their screw-on design makes installation quick and easy, while providing a noticeable visual upgrade over the original covers. Why are billet aluminium covers better? Front Brake Master Cylinder Cover
Our black anodised front brake reservoir cover was chosen to replace the OEM reservoir cover. Like the rear brake cover, they are CNC-machined from billet aluminium to ensure a perfect fit on the master cylinder and provide a noticeable visual upgrade over the OEM reservoir covers, no matter the colour chosen. This particular master cylinder cover fitted is compatible with the 1997-2003 Suzuki RM 125 and RM 250, the 2000-2004 DRZ 400, plus the 2000-2007 DRZ 400 E.

The Suzuki RM 250 remains one of the most iconic and popular 2-stroke motocross bikes. In addition to the AS3 Performance parts featured above, Travis Fuller's 2003 RM 250 has various other aftermarket parts installed, like the Bill's Pipes exhaust system and the Hinson clutch cover. Although we don't stock exhausts or clutch covers for the RM 250, we supply a wide range of aftermarket parts for every generation of RM 250 - from the 1980's evo models, to the final 2008 model. Customized Graphics
With a tribute to Travis Pastrana's SoBe-Sunstar Factory Racing Team's 2003 RM 250 motocross bike in mind, Fuller has nailed it with these graphics! He has all the branding in the right places and we like that the DC Shoes logo has replaced what would have been the Red Bull bull on Pastrana's original bike, thus making it slightly different, but with the same colour ways.
