Customer Project Bike: 2007 Yamaha YZ 250 F
Complete rebuild of a Yamaha YZ 250 F with a unique colour-way and decals
One of our serial bike builders in Canada - Derick Griecken - @thetwosmoker - has recently completed this 2007 YZ 250 F rebuild, together with his girlfriend, from whom the colour-way inspiration came. Below, we have details and pictures of the AS3 Performance parts used in the mx bike build, as well as some video links to the parts being fitted at the end of the feature.

Oil Filter Cover
Derick fitted our oil filter cover, anodised in black, to improve the look of the right side of the engine. The AS3 oil filter cover provides a significant visual upgrade compared to the YZ 250 F's OEM oil filter cover. With it being CNC machined from 6061 aluminium, it also has a very precise fit and is extremely durable - it will last a long time!
Silicone Radiator Hoses
Our black silicone radiator hoses were used on Derick's build. We also offer them in Blue, Red or White for the YZ 250 F, depending on the year. Derick and his girlfriend went for black, matching the colour of all the other AS3 Performance parts used on the build. We pride ourselves on the fact that our hoses are much more robust than the standard rubber hoses. Being made from high quality silicone and reinforced with polyester, they are less susceptible to damage or punctures.

Ignition Plugs
Adding an AS3 performance ignition plug kit is a great way to improve the look of the right side of the engine. CNC machined from billet aluminium, Derick has fitted our black anodised versions, the larger plug being branded with our logo and really popping out against the ignition cover surface. Like most of the anodised Yamaha parts we stock, they are also available in blue or red.
Oil Filler Plug
Like the ignition plugs, a black anodised oil filler plug has been fitted. They are also CNC machined from 6061 aluminium. There is no comparison to the standard plastic plugs - ours are stronger and perform better under high heat and pressure, plus the fact they also look much better. We supply them with pre-drilled holes, allowing customers to use locking wire as they wish.

Skid Plate
For providing extra protection to the engine, our 4mm thick aluminium skid plate has been fitted. All of our skid plates feature double welded joints, giving extra strength but keeping weight to a minimum due to being made from aluminium. The holes incorporated into our skid plates are strategically placed for air flow as well as allowing you to work on the bike without having to remove the skid plate.

Foot Pegs
Derick used our racing series foot pegs on a previous 1990 YZ 250 mx bike build and liked them so much he used them again on the 250 F. With 34 individual teeth and a 57mm wide platform, our racing series foot pegs offer more grip and surface area than the OEM foot pegs. The anodised finish makes them a standout feature too, whichever colour the customer chooses.
Rear Brake Pedal
We offer the rear brake pedal in a combo with the gear lever. Derick fitted our combo and chose to change the tips to black. Both our rear brake pedals and gear levers are cold forged, meaning they are less brittle than OEM levers and therefore less susceptible to snapping upon any unfortunate impacts.

Chain Guide
Derick has gone with our black anodised, aluminium chain guide. Also available in blue and red for the Yamaha mx bikes, they are CNC machined from 6061-T6 aluminium. The hard wearing plastic inserts incorporated make these chain guides very robust, preventing them from buckling and bending like OEM chain guides otherwise would. Like all of our chain guides, they help to protect the chain as much as possible in all conditions.

Front Brake Line
AS3 Venhill brake lines are a very popular choice for not only motocross riders, but also for all disciplines of motorcycle rider, from enduro to adventure. Compared to the OEM brake lines, ours improve response and feel throughout the whole braking system. Derick has replaced the front brake line with our black AS3 Performance by Venhill front brake line. Front brake lines for the YZ 250 F are also available in blue.

Front Brake & Clutch Levers
Derick has fitted our factory series front brake and clutch levers, anodised in black. These levers are one of the most adjustable sets on the market - you can adjust the reach setting on both and the clutch lever has a "quick adjust", so the rider is able to easily adjust how responsive the clutch is! Additionally, the levers have a flexible pivot point, meaning they will pivot outwards upon any impact, helping to prevent them bending or snapping.
