AS3 Performance Weekly Round Up #15

Jonny Walker Starts His EnduroCross Title Defence In Style

2023 AMA EnduroCross Championship, Round 1, Everett, Washington, 8th Oct

It was the perfect evening for our supported Beta rider, Jonny Walker, sweeping all 3 races in the opening round of the 2023 AMA EnduroCross Championship! Picking up where he left off in 2022, Jonny's 1,1,1 has surely made a bold statement of his competitiveness in the 2023 Championship. The Beta 300 RR rider was well ahead of 2nd placed Cody Webb's tally - The FactoryOne Sherco rider went 7,2,3 over the 3 races, with 3rd placed Rockstar Energy Husqvarna's Ryder LeBlond, going 5,3,4.

So dominant was Jonny's performance on the night, that he even set the fastest hot-lap, getting first gate pick for race 1. Even with the standard reversed grid for race 2, as well as the "extremely technical" Everett course, Walker still managed to pick his way through the field from the back row of the grid! In the post-event interview, the British rider said of his night, "I was quietly confident coming in... last year I was coming off two operations and I finished the first round in eighth... so to start this year with a win is huge for me". Congrats to Jonny on a perfect first round and we wish him luck for the next 5 EnduroCross rounds.

Jamie McCanney Ends FIM EnduroGP World Championship On A High

Fast Eddy Racing Team's Jamie McCanney had a great weekend at the last round of the 2023 FIM EnduroGP Championship last weekend. Racing in St. Andre / Santiago do Cacem, Portugal, our supported Husqvarna rider went P2 in the E1 Class (P4 overall EGP) on the Saturday and on the Sunday. This meant that he leap-frogged Sherco's Zachary Pichon, to take 3rd place overall in the FIM Enduro E1 World Championship! Jamie was close to taking 2nd overall too, Beta's Theophile Espinasse only being 3 points ahead in the end.

McCanney really turned it on at the final round when it mattered and got rewarded. Well done to Jamie and the Fast Eddy Racing Team and we wish him all the best for the 2023 ISDE in Argentina, where he will represent Team GB. Jamie's teammate, Jack Edmonson, came 6th in the E1 Class at the final round on his Husqvarna FE 250. Congrats to Jack and we look forward to supporting him and the team in 2024.

AS3 Performance Supported Junior Enduro Riders

Our Junior Enduro supported rider; Jacob Bragg, was competing at Coney Green in the 85cc Big Wheel Class on his GasGas MC 85, last weekend. Despite a crash on the first lap, putting him dead last, he caught up and moved through the field well, managing to take the class win. What a recovery, well done Jacob! We look forward to supporting you in 2024.

Another of our Junior Enduro supported riders, Tommy Rowan, was also competing in the same event, but in the 85cc (small wheel) Class. He was, however, competing on his 65cc Husqvarna TC 65. Due to Tommy being 2-3 years younger than the other competitors, he has had to compete all season against older riders on more powerful 85cc bikes, as there is no 65cc class. He has held his own though, regularly on the podium and this weekend was no exception. He finished in 2nd, narrowly missing out on 1st place after a small mistake on the last lap. Congrats Tommy and we look forward to supporting you in 2024.

Would You Like To Be Supported By AS3 Performance?

We are now considering our Supported Riders for the 2024 season, so please feel free to contact us if you are interested in Rider Support. We have multiple support packages available; for riders competing in local club races, to full-time pro riders competing at the highest levels. We also have a Bike Build support package available; for those who don't compete, but want to use our parts in their bike builds.

AS3 Bike Of The Week

This week, Battista @batty.beta sent us some photos of his Beta 480 RR Enduro Bike. Battista is a 22 year old motorbike enthusiast from South Italy and has been involved with bikes since a very young age. He started out on 50cc autos, pit bikes and then got a Beta 125 RR when he was 16. From then, he has always ridden with a big group of like-minded friends, has upgraded bikes through the time and then finally got what he calls his "dream bike" - his Beta 480 RR.

Battista has upgraded many of the OEM parts on his Beta 480 RR and the bike features a long list of AS3 Performance protection parts, performance upgrades and anodised accessories. We have highlighted some of the stand out AS3 Performance parts in the photos below.

Beta foot pegsOur Red Aluminium Racing Series Foot Pegs With Stainless Steel Teeth

Battista has fitted our Racing Series foot pegs, also chosen by a lot of our Enduro riders who ride other bike brands, including GasGas, KTM, Husqvarna & Sherco. The anodised red finish looks great against the red frame and colour-way of the bike. The foot pegs feature 34 teeth for a better grip and the 57mm wide platform gives a larger surface area than the OEM foot pegs.

Beta chain guideAS3 Performance Chain Guide With Red Aluminium Mounting Bracket And TPU Plastic Slider

At the rear of the bike you can see our AS3 Performance Chain Guide this is available in black or red and Battista has gone with the red option. Our chain guides have an aluminium mounting bracket, with the lower part being made from strong, black TPU plastic, that will flex on any impact. Whilst doing the job of providing protection to the rear sprocket and keeping the chain running in line, the AS3 Performance chain guide also provides a big visual upgrade compared to the OEM chain guide.

Beta clutch leverAS3 Performance Forged Clutch Lever In Our Anodised Black Finish

Battista has fitted our forged front brake and clutch levers to his Beta 480 RR. These levers are incredibly popular with our motocross and enduro customers. They are direct replacements for the OEM levers and are cold forged which helps prevent them from snapping on impact like most OEM cast levers would. With a black anodised finish and red plastic adjuster these levers match the colour scheme of the Beta 480 RR perefctly.

Beta front brake master cylinder coverOur Billet Aluminium Front Brake Reservoir Covers Are A Great Visual Upgrade

Reservoir covers are always a go to accessory for many of our customers and as you can see in the photo above the look of the master cylinder is completely transformed by replacing the dull cast OEM reservoir cover with our CNC machined billet aluminium reservoir cover. These are available in a choice of 3 anodised colours; red as chosen by Battista for the 480 RR, black for riders looking to keep the master cylinder all the same colour and blue to match the colour scheme of the Beta RR Racing models.

On the opposite side of the handlebars Battista has installed one of our red anodised clutch reservoir covers. The red anodised finish looks great next to the subtle red Beta logos on the grips and the red adjusters on our forged levers. All of our clutch reservoir covers have a laser etched AS3 Performance logo and the anodised finish helps resist corrosion from the brake fluid.

Beta 480 RRThe Beta 480 RR Enduro Bike Parked Up On A Dirt Road In Southern Italy

In the final shot of our bike of the week feature, you can see Battista's Beta 480 RR parked on a dirt road. The bike is fitted with our forged aluminium side stand and you may also notice the red plastic tip. This tip is designed to be screwed on to the bottom of either the AS3 Performance side stand or the OEM side stand, to give the stand more surface area, to prevent it from sinking on soft ground.
