The MotoWorx Honda CR 250 Project: Part 2
2007 Honda CR 250, The Last Ever 250cc Two Stroke Motocross Bike From Honda
This is the second of two Honda CR 250 restorations by Andy Wells of Wells MotoWorks in Canada. Part 1 was a 2002 CR 250 R and here we have the last version ever produced by Honda - the 2007 Honda CR 250 R. Although both bikes are from either end of the same generation and are quite similar, MotoWorx have tried to make them as different as possible, by using a variation of AS3 Performance parts across the two bikes and having the 2002 bike done in a red and white theme, with the 2007 model finished in a red and black theme. Like with all Andy's builds, he tries to restore most of the parts, but with this one he has replaced a lot more parts than usual. Some of the OEM parts that have been replaced with AS3 Performance parts include the kick starter, rear axle blocks plus the front brake and clutch levers. We have photos below showing the majority of our parts used in this CR 250 build, as well as detailed photos and information.

Kick Starter
The OEM kick starter has been replaced with our anodised black kick starter. As you can see in the photo below, it pops out nicely against the Hygge exhaust expansion chamber and aluminium frame colour, whilst matching the black cylinder head, clutch cover and rear shock. Also available in silver for the CR 250 1997-2008 models, our kick start levers are manufactured from 7075 aircraft grade aluminium, which is a harder aluminium than most of our other aluminium products, due to the excess force that can be used to kickstart the bike.

Rear Brake Pedal & Gear Lever
In this build, our Factory Series rear brake and gear lever kit has been installed to replace the OEM levers. On the 2002 CR 250, our standard rear brake and gear lever were fitted. When comparing our Factory Series option and standard option, these are the differences - 1. Visual - Our Factory Series levers are matt black and feature a grey tip. 2. Functional - Our Factory Series rear brake levers and gear levers have a similar feel and look to the OEM levers. The rear brake lever has a fixed tip and has 3 mounting holes, giving the rider an option to move it closer or further away, depending on their preference. On the picture below, you can see that the colour and finish of the rear brake lever and kick starter match nicely.

Rear Brake Clevis
As can been seen in the photos above and below, the OEM rear brake clevis has been replaced with our black anodised version. This part is often purchased together with our rear brake levers as it looks much better than the OEM part and completes the look. We also offer these anodised in red, depending on the colour-way you prefer. The rear brake clevis fitted to this 2007 CR 250 will also fit the CR 125, as well as the CRF 250 R and CRF 450 R four stroke models.
Foot Pegs
Our black Factory Series foot pegs have been installed on the 2007 CR 250, where as our black Racing Series foot pegs were fitted on the 2002 CR 250. The Factory Series CNC machined, black aluminium foot pegs fitted on this bike have sharp "teeth" which are integrated on a stainless steel plate, rather than "pins" like on the Racing Series foot pegs. The 55mm wide platform on our Factory Series pegs increases the surface area for boot contact, compared to the OEM foot pegs. Available in red too for the Honda CR 250, all of our foot pegs certainly make a statement - they look much better than any standard foot pegs and provide a higher level of grip.

Front Sprocket Guard
The OEM plastic front sprocket guard has been replaced with our anodised black front sprocket guard on the CR 250, as can be seen in the photo below. It is one piece of CNC machined billet aluminium, making it stronger than the plastic OEM version, whilst keeping excess weight to a minimum. As well as being an eye-catcher, the main purpose of the sprocket guard is to protect the sprocket from damage, plus to prevent debris from getting caught up in the chain and sprocket. Also available in red, this front sprocket guard will fit the 2004-2009 CRF 250, 2004-2017 CRF 250 X and the 2008 CRF 450.

Rear Brake Disc Guard
For the Honda CR 250 we offer 2 types of rear brake disc guards. 1. A DTC Plastic version available in black and red. 2. An aluminium version, also available in black and red. The photo below shows our black anodised aluminium rear brake disc guard fitted to the 2007 CR 250. These are CNC machined from billet aluminium, making them strong and lightweight and feature a thick plastic shield on the bottom for maximum protection of the rear brake disc.
Rear Brake Reservoir Cover
The internal components of the rear brake master cylinder were replaced using one of our rear brake master cylinder repair kits. To top off this restoration to the rear master cylinder, our black anodised rear brake reservoir cover, made from billet aluminium, has been fitted. This is a nice black detail that stands out with the other black anodised parts. Our front brake reservoir cover has also been fitted in black. Adding small anodised hard parts like the master cylinder covers are great cost effective upgrades for any bike. They are also available anodised in red for most Honda motocross models.

Rotating Bar Clamps
Our rotating bar clamp in black has been installed on the back of the front brake master cylinder. The bar clamp ensures the master cylinder and brake lever remains damage-free upon any impact, as it's design allows the master cylinder to rotate. They are one of our universal fitting products and are available in black and red for all Honda CR models. They look great installed with our front brake reservoir covers, as you can see in the photo below.

Rear Axle Blocks
The OEM rear axle blocks have been replaced with our billet aluminium black anodised rear axle blocks as you can see on the right of the photo below. This is another nice black detail which pops out against the end of the swing arm. Compared to the OEM axle blocks, ours have alignment scales on the top and bottom of each block, enabling you to easily position the rear wheel. The axle blocks fitted to the 2007 CR 250 work with the OEM bolts, but we also offer a set of axle blocks that come with nickel plated steel bolts incorporated too. Both are available in black or red.

What Other AS3 Parts Were Used On The 2007 CR 250?
Our Factory Series "Flexi" levers have also been used on the bike. They have a pivot design, enabling them to fold outwards upon any impacts, reducing the chance of damage. Additionally, they are both adjustable, allowing the rider to set them at a distance to suit them. With a black anodised finish, they look much nicer than the OEM levers and fit a range of Honda motocross models.
What Parts Were Used On Both The 2002 And 2007 Honda CR 250 MX Bikes?
AS3 Performance by Venhill front and rear brake lines replaced the OEM brake lines on both the 2002 and 2007 CR 250 motocross bikes. Keeping with the brakes, our brake master cylinder rebuild kits and brake caliper rebuild kits were used to replace and restore all internal components of the front and rear brake master cylinders and calipers on both bikes. Finally, the original radiator hoses and clips were replaced with our silicone radiator hoses and clip kits. There is no doubt the OEM radiator hoses will have probably perished over time due to the fact they are rubber. Our red coloured radiator hoses were chosen to be fitted on both CR 250 bikes as a nice stand-out feature, compared to the black OEM versions.
