Gas Gas MC 150 "Factory Edition"

The All New 2025 Gas Gas MC 150 Receives Some Upgrades

Ok, so it's not an official Factory Edition model, but our customer - Ben Schaeffer - over in the United States has recently taken a completely stock Gas Gas MC 150 and added many similar features that you will find on the Gas Gas MC 250 F and MC 450 F Factory Edition models. These include a billet aluminium clutch cover, braided front and rear brake lines, wider foot pegs and a forged rear brake pedal. Combine that with upgraded wheels, exhaust system and triple clamps, plus a fresh set of custom graphics and you've got the ultimate 2 stroke race bike! This is one of many motocross bikes built by Ben that we have had the pleasure to be a part of - previous bikes being a Kawasaki KX 450 SR and a Husqvarna TC 125 - so we were exited to see how his latest MC 150 project turned out. Below, we highlight the AS3 Performance parts used, with detailed photos and information about the parts.

Clutch Cover

The stand out piece of the engine is definitely our black hard anodised billet aluminium clutch cover. This part is a very recent addition to our product range, after we did some test fitting work with a local rider who has the same bike here in the UK. Billet clutch covers usually come as standard on the KTM, Husqvarna and Gas Gas Factory Edition models and are used by pretty much every team in the MXGP paddock. This is because they are much stronger than the OEM cover and will be less likely to crack or damage due to an impact from a rock or collision with another rider. To find out more about the features and benefits of running a billet aluminium clutch cover, read our in-depth feature here.

Oil Filler Plug

Staying around the engine area, you can see from the photo below that the plastic OEM oil filler plug has been upgraded to one of our red anodised aluminium oil filler plugs, which we think looks great in contrast to the the anodised black clutch cover. These plugs are also available in black also if you prefer a more understated look. Our oil filler plugs for the Gas Gas models can be easily installed and removed by using a 12mm socket, spanner or T-bar and are supplied with a replacement o-ring too. You can see from the close-up below that our oil filler plugs have pre-drilled holes in the head - this is so that locking wire can be used as an extra precaution to prevent it from coming loose - this is more commonly used in supermoto though.

Water Pump Cover

Just to the right of the clutch cover and oil filler plug, you can also see that the OEM water pump cover has been replaced with our black anodised billet aluminium version too. We often find that many of our customers chose to upgrade both of these parts together, to offer total protection to the right side of the engine and help prevent the loss of any water or oil should that side of the engine come in to contact with anything. As well as black, we offer water pump covers for Gas Gas motocross and enduro bikes in an anodised red option also. You can see in the corner of the photo below that the bike is fitted with a red set of silicone hoses, so we would always advise to fit the black water pump cover, as red on red just doesn't look quite right. However, if the OEM black rubber hoses were still on the bike, the red water pump cover would look great.

Rear Brake Pedal

Keeping in line with the black and red theme, the OEM rear brake pedal has been replaced with one of our cold forged rear brake pedals. The cold forging process increases the strength of the aluminium used to manufacture the pedal and they are not as brittle as the cast OEM brake pedals. The red tip on the lever is CNC machined from 6061 billet aluminium and has a spring installed that will allow the tip to pivot on impact. It also features 9 stainless steel teeth that offer a higher level of grip compared to the OEM pedal. For riders with larger feet we have a selection of oversized tips that are compatible with this rear brake pedal. This brake lever also fits the Gas Gas MC 125.

Front Brake Line

Just like the Factory Edition models, the bike has Brembo front and rear brakes installed, which have been changed from the Braktec brakes that come on the 2025 MC 150 as standard. This caused some slight issues with the brake lines, as the only lines that we have available for the 2025 MC 150 are designed to fit the standard Braktec master cylinders and calipers. However, this was easily solved as our brake lines have a swivel nut design that allows you to screw the banjos in and out and we were able to supply some replacement banjos with slightly different angles to achieve a perfect fit.

Rear Brake Line

The rear OEM rear brake line was also swapped out for one of our red braided rear brake lines to match the front. Braided brake lines are standard on all Gas Gas motocross and enduro bikes, so this switch was purely for aesthetic reasons. However, we feel that's as good of a reason as any, as the red PVC cover and red protective plastic sheath match the plastics of the Gas Gas MC 150 perfectly. They significantly add to the customisation of the bike, while retaining all of the performance related benefits from the OEM braided brake lines. Both the front and rear brake lines are also available in black if you prefer more of an OEM style look.

Foot Pegs

Our Racing Series foot pegs in anodised black have been installed on the bike. These foot pegs help with stability, as the 60mm wide platform is slightly wider than the OEM pegs and the 38 individual stainless steel teeth offer more grip than the OEM foot pegs. We also supply these for Gas Gas models in an anodised red option too, but the black versions on the MC 150 really compliment the black frame protection, skid plate and engine covers, as shown in the photo below. Our Racing Series foot pegs are one of three foot peg options we have available for the MC 150, another being our Factory Series foot pegs, which are a similar aluminium design, but with a completely different teeth pattern. The strongest and lightest foot pegs that we have for the MC 150 are our Titanium foot pegs - these are our premium off-road foot pegs, specifically designed for motocross and enduro and we advise anyone riding at a high level to use our titanium foot pegs. Rear Brake Reservoir Cover & Cooling Extension

To the left side of the photo below, you can see our red anodised rear brake master cylinder cover - another billet aluminium accessory that looks great alongside the oil filler plug and brake pedal tip in the background. You may also notice that the reservoir cover is raised up higher than usual, as normally the cover is completed shielded by the black plastic master cylinder guard. This is because the bike also has one of our rear brake master cylinder cooling extensions installed. These are to allow you to hold more brake fluid in the master cylinder, which helps with braking performance and reduces the possibility of 'brake fade' if the rear brake gets too hot. Our cooling extensions are a universal fit across all of the Brembo rear master cylinders on Gas Gas, KTM and Husqvarna motocross and enduro bikes. They are also available in two sizes, as on some models the space between the master cylinder and exhaust can be quite tight. If your bike is running a Braktec or Magura rear brake, we can also supply cooling extensions and rear reservoir covers for those too.

Gear Lever Tip

The OEM gear lever has been retained, but our billet aluminium gear lever tip has replaced the OEM tip. Our gear lever tips are direct replacement parts, designed to fit all of the new style OEM gear levers on the Gas Gas, KTM and Husqvarna models. They are supplied with a replacement spring, pin and all hardware required to install the part. One thing that you may not have noticed from the photo below is that if you take a look at the end of our gear lever tip, it is a completely closed design - this is to help avoid dirt and moisture entering the tip which could potentially cause an issue with it springing back into position if riding in wet, muddy conditions. We also supply this tip in black, plus orange and blue for the KTM and Husqvarna models.

Front Brake Line Clamp

The plastic OEM front brake line clamp has been replaced with our black anodised aluminium front brake line clamp. These are CNC machined from billet aluminium and are a stronger upgrade from the OEM plastic part, while keeping excess weight to a minimum. These clamps mount to the bike using the OEM bolts and are compatible with both the OEM and AS3 front brake lines. The same brake line clamp is also available in red and will actually fit all Gas Gas motocross and enduro bikes, right back to the 2018 models, a few years before they were part of the KTM brand. We think the black option on the MC 150 is the ideal choice for this project, as it compliments the red and black brake line, plastics and graphics perfectly.

Front Brake & Clutch Reservoir Covers

Just like the brakes, the clutch master cylinder was also changed from Braktec to Brembo and to finish off the look, the bike has been fitted with our red anodised clutch and front brake reservoir covers, replacing the black standard OEM reservoir covers. Even though the 2025 MC 150 uses Braktec brakes as standard, supplying reservoir covers for the Brembo master cylinders was no problem at all as some of the previous Gas Gas models already came with Brembo brakes. Upgrading the reservoir covers is an easy and cost effective way of enhancing the look of the handlebar area on any motocross or enduro bike. As you can see from the picture below, the covers really stand out against the throttle housing and rubber covers on the levers. Again, these are also available in black if you prefer a more toned-down look, plus blue, orange, yellow and green as the Sherco, KTM, SWM and Kawasaki share some of the same master cylinders.

Clutch Line

The clutch line on the bike has also been changed to one of our AS3 by Venhill stainless steel braided clutch lines. However, instead of going for the red option like the front and rear brake lines, the black option has been installed on the bike. Luckily, with this line, there is plenty of space to allow the banjo and swivel nuts to fit as with some KTM , Gas Gas and Husqvarna models, the clutch lines have to be redesigned and look slightly different to the OEM hoses due to the tight tolerances around the slave cylinder and engine casings.

Axle Blocks

The final parts that we are going to highlight in this feature are the axle blocks. Between the first introduction of the new Gas Gas models in 2021, the axle block have remained the same up until 2023. In 2024 a new style of rear axle blocks appeared on the Gas Gas motocross and enduro bikes and these also carried over on to the 2025 models. The bike is fitted with our black anodised version, with red also available. The blocks are both CNC machined from 6061 billet aluminium and have alignment scales on the top and bottom to help with accurate wheel alignment.
